In RAIS we fight for a society in which no-one lives on the street and we want homelessness to be a priority on the political agenda. Every day 8,000 people in Spain are forced to live on the street. Half of them have been in this situation for more than three years. This is fundamentally against the right to housing, health, employment and dignity.

Tomorrow, Thursday 25th October, we will meet with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, at the Palacio de la Moncloa to demand a commitment to the fight against homelessness. On Friday 26th we will make the same request to all political parties with parliamentary representation at a meeting in the Congress of Deputies. The RAIS team will be led by Richard Gere and Alejandra Gere to take this step in highlighting the situation in which thousands of people live in Spain and all over the world.

We want our political representatives to build a socially just country that protects the rights of all citizens, including people who live and sleep on the streets. For this reason, we will ask them to commit to working towards ending homelessness in Spain by promoting concrete measures with the necessary funding and co-ordination to carry them out. We believe it is necessary to improve the knowledge of this problem, develop prevention programmes and offer solutions that guarantee the right to housing for homeless people.
